Day 50 - Oct. 23, 2008

This was taken while on a walk through the cemetery. It was already really dark so I set the camera to a thirty-second exposure and set it on the ground. I really liked the outcome, as the ground is in focus, and the masoleum in the back is blurry, but still attention-grabbing.

Day 49 - Oct. 22, 2008

I took these photos one day before rehearsal. I was using my 35mm camera to take pictures for our negative manipulation project and brought my digital camera with. These are a few of the photos I took!

Day 48 - Oct. 21, 2008

Day 47 - Oct. 20, 2008

Simple portrait. I'm really intrigued by eyes.

Day 46 - Oct. 19, 2008

We had a fire going, and one of my dogs likes to lay so close to it we're scared he's going to catch on fire! But anyways, I thought that the flames illuminated his fur really uniquely and would make a good photograph.

Day 45 - Oct. 18, 2008

I uploaded two pictures for today because I liked them both. The upper one I took by holding the camera out. I really liked how it's focused on a portion of my face, but my sister is still visible in the background. The lighting also made her form seem almost distorted, making it a really interesting visual. The bottom one I just took by standing behind my sister. I know it's kind of lame to take a mirror photograph, but I really liked the angle and lighting.

Day 44 - Oct. 17, 2008

Pumpkin painting! I loved the texture of the stem.

Day 43 - Oct. 16, 2008

I took this photograph of my sister holding up a Venetian mask. I thought the layout was really cool, however I don't like the distracting texture of the carpet.

Day 42 - Oct. 15, 2008

So this photograph actually came to be on accident. I was sitting in a coffee shop, trying to take a picture of my friend. I accidentally forgot to take my camera off the long-shutter exposure setting so this was the result. I actually like it though!

Day 41 - Oct. 14, 2008

So looking back at my pictures, apparently I was extremely enamored with the sky that week. Oh well. Another long-exposure night photograph.

Day 40 - Oct. 13, 2008

I took this at night. The moon was extremely bright and the light sky contrasted greatly with the pure black of the houses. I used a tripod and a thirty-second exposure to add more light and capture the movement of the clouds. I liked how the artificial light from the windows balanced out the natural light from the sky.

Day 39 - Oct. 12, 2008

I took this using a tripod during dusk. A really simple photograph but I thought the varying colors in the clouds were attention-grabbing.

Day 38 - Oct. 11, 2008

Taken during a walk at night. Thirty second exposure with the camera on the ground. That's probably why the picture is off-kilter, but I thought it made it more interesting!

Day 37 - Oct. 10, 2008

Yay Halloween! We put our pumpkins outside and kind of forgot about them. I walked out there and saw this pumpkin, thought it looked like an old man and thought it would make a humorous picture so here it is!

Day 36 - Oct. 9, 2008

Okay. I haven't uploaded any 365 pictures but I have been taking them so I guess it's time I caught up! I temporarily lost my Day 36 picture, and I think I might have taken this on the same day so here it is!

Day 35 - Oct. 8, 2008

This was taken at dusk. I thought the lighting made the similar colors (in the berries and in the apple) really pop.

Day 34 - Oct. 7, 2008

So for my 365 I was trying to set my camera for a picture, but I forgot to change the shutter speed back to normal, so I ended up capturing a photo of my dog walking down the hall. I think it turned out kind of weird, but the motion was pretty interesting.

Day 33 - Oct. 6, 2008

I was taking some pictures of my sister at nature hill using my 35mm. I brought my digital with to hopefully take some similar pictures. I liked this one so I edited the colors a bit and used it for my 365! It kind of feels like it's a picture from the olden days or something!

Day 32 - Oct. 5, 2008

I forgot about my 365 until late at night, but luckily I found an interesting subject in this candle! I definitely like unique lighting and thought that the glow of the candle made the hand fade out, capturing a haunting image.

Day 31 - Oct. 4, 2008

I took this at the Elegant Farmer apple orchard. I thought that the lighting captured a cool mood.

Day 30 - Oct. 3, 2008

Another experimentation with long exposures. Not my favorite but always a learning experience!

Day 29 - (Oct. 2, 2008)

I was going to use this picture for my artist emulation assignment (I chose an artist that did portraits), but last minute I decided to switch artists. SO, I'm posting this instead as my photo for the day. I thought the shadow made by my sister balanced out nicely with the black in the upper right corner.

Day 28 - (Oct. 1, 2008)

Vicious storm clouds that I thought made for interesting pictures!

Day 27 - (Sept. 30, 2008)

Just experimenting with foreground. This is my little sister holding up a painting I did about a year ago.

Day 26 - (Sept. 29, 2008)

Another experimentation with light trails (taken inside by shaking the camera on a long exposure of the ceiling light).

Day 25 - (Sept. 28, 2008)

I took these pictures using a long exposure and by manually shaking my camera. It's of the lights leading up to my house.

Day 24 - (Sept. 27, 2008)

My friends and I decided not to go to homecoming (cuz frankly it's overpriced and a little lame... sorry) so we had a party-thing at my house. We had a few pumpkins in the kitchen that were lit up and I thought that their glow was really interesting. My sister was standing behind them and I thought that focusing on the pumpkins made the photograph better than focusing on the person.

Day 23 - (Sept. 26, 2008)

So my dad was home this weekend after a trip from China. He brought us back this teaset that I thought looked sweet so I took a picture of it!

Day 22 - (Sept. 25, 2008)

Once again experimenting with long exposures... this time with fire! I lit a match and started lighting a candle with about a 2 or 3 second exposure. Makes for interesting movement!

Day 21 - (Sept. 24, 2008)

I couldn't decide on which picture to use for my project 365, so I just decided to post two! This is my little sister laying on the ground in the light from my bedroom. I thought it looked really mysterious, so I experimented with long exposures, making the picture a little creepy!

Day 20 - (Sept. 23, 2008)

Simple close up of my hand with interesting lighting.

Day 19 - (Sept. 22, 2008)

I didn't have much freetime that day... finishing up a million school projects, so I thought I'd use the mess as my photograph!

Day 18 - (Sept. 21, 2008)

EDITED VERSION ABOVE, ORIGINAL BELOW:

This was taken on the street behind my house around sunset (I was waiting for night to do my nighttime photography!). Just experimenting with long exposures and motion!

Day 17 - (Sept. 20, 2008)

So I finally figured out how to use the self-timer on my camera! I was out taking my sister's senior pictures (we found a spot that was, amazingly, still really green) and I decided to test out the timer!

Day 16 - (Sept. 19, 2008)

This picture is pretty simple, just a close up of a plant on the side of our house. It caught my eye because most of the plant is withering, but there is still one bud at the bottom.

Day 15 - (Sept. 18, 2008)

One of my favorite times of day to take pictures is in the morning, due to the lighting. This is a photograph of my reflection in the car side-mirror.

Day 14 - (Sept. 17, 2008)

I took this in the morning on the way to school. My sister was driving the car and I took a picture of the passing landscape through the window. I thought the sun lighting up the raindrops on the window added an attention-grabbing aspect and an exciting mood.

Day 13 - (Sept. 16, 2008)

This is a picture of a dresser in our main hallway taken during sunset. I actually like how the sun washes out the upper right corner. It caught my eye and inspired me to take this photograph!

Day 12 - (Sept. 15, 2008)

A photograph of some antique books in unique lighting.

Day 11 - (Sept. 14, 2008)

Locked in my house again, because of the weather. So, I took advantage of the rain and used it in my picture!

Day 10 - (Sept. 13, 2008)

As you can probably tell from my other pictures, it's an advantage having sisters as they're always willing to model for you! It was really rainy that day so I spent most of my time inside. I wanted to create an out of the ordinary mood by setting unique lighting, and focusing on the wilting flower in front, while leaving the girl blurry in the background.

Day 9 - (Sept. 12, 2008)

After school on Friday, my sister and I drove out to an old abandoned house on Valley Rd. The house looks really cool and rundown, and the vegetation is all grown-out, so I thought it would make for a curious picture. I had my sister wear one of my old dresses and reach for a window on the side of the building. The whole composition ended up looking really mysterious.

Day 8 - (Sept. 11, 2008)

Our house lights up interestingly when the sun sets, so I had my sister lay on the ground and look up (allowing the sun's rays to hit her eye) and took this picture. I thought it made her eye really attention-grabbing.

Day 7 - (Sept. 10, 2008)

The drama department had an ice cream social, where juniors and seniors had to serve ice cream for new-comers to our school's theatre program. I took this picture of Hanna before everyone arrived, while setting up. I thought having her face out of focus, and having the sunlit branches clear made the photo unique.

Day 6 - (Sept. 9, 2008)

The sun was setting and I thought the light it cast on the piano made for a really interesting picture.
